How to Keep Your Schedule Booked in the New Year
The new year is almost here, so it’s time to start thinking about how to make 2023 your most successful year yet. Start the year off on the right foot with the right job and keep your schedule booked all year.
Spoiler alert: our main takeaway is to stay organized. How do you achieve that? Keep reading to find out our top tips and how to manage your schedule with AmbiMi.
Our Top 3 Tips
To start, here are our top three tips on how to keep your schedule booked:
Set a goal
Choose a yearly or monthly earning goal to stay motivated throughout the year. Then, use your target to determine how often you’ll need to pick up shifts and at what wage rate. Remember to be realistic, and don’t plan on overworking yourself!
Set your availability (you can do this in AmbiMi!)
Block off unavailable times to see when you have free time. If you enter this into AmbiMi, we’ll only show you jobs when you can do them. Plus, we’ll automatically update your schedule with new jobs. This will help you stay organized and never overbook yourself.
Start looking for jobs early
Be ahead of the curve and start your job search early. We recommend starting at least two weeks to a month if possible. If you become available, you can pick up a last-minute shift, but having a confirmed role ensures your schedule stays 100% booked.
For example, Sonya is gearing up for the new year, and one of her resolutions is to make $2000 a month on top of her university classes. Sonya calculates that she needs to work 26 hours per week at $18 per hour to hit her goal. Sonya hopes to find entry-level administrative roles to reach her target.
Last-minute meetings or schoolwork come up often, so Sonya doesn’t have a steady schedule to keep a permanent job. So, she decides to look for temporary positions instead. Then, she comes across AmbiMi and downloads it to find jobs. She puts in her goal, sets up her profile, and enters her skills to get started.
Sonya has classes from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM Monday to Thursday every week and usually meets for group projects until 4:00 PM. She opens MiSched in AmbiMi to set her availability for after 5:00 PM on weekdays and anytime on weekends and plans to work 4 days a week.
Sonya likes that she can update her schedule as things come up. So, if a last-minute meeting comes up, she can enter it in MiSched.
January is still a couple of weeks away, but Sonya decides to get a head start and start looking now. It’ll be the start of the new semester, so now she won’t have anything after class. She looks at MiMatches and already has a few matches for administrative roles. She reviews the job postings and applies to a few Administrative Assistant and Receptionist roles.
Sonya is accepted for the jobs, and they automatically populate in MiSched. This ensures that she will never double-book herself and always stays organized.
