MiSkills 101: How to Choose Your Skills with AmbiMi

AmbiMi is a skills-based job matching app, which means we use your skills to match you to relevant job opportunities. You spent hard time building your skills, and we value that over being able to design fancy resume or answering a couple of obscure interview questions well.

No more scrolling through countless job boards or getting ghosted by companies. Instead, every job you see is a match for you.

Since skills are the most important factor in matching you to jobs, choosing the right ones are important. We'll outline how to select your skills on AmbiMi and our best tips and tricks.

What to Know About Skills

First, you should know that there are two types of skills on AmbiMi: verified and unverified.

Verified skills are skills that you have obtained through jobs with AmbiMi. Once you have eight hours of experience with a skill, it will become verified on your AmbiFile. You can see your verified and unverified skills on your AmbiFIle anytime.

All your other skills are unverified, meaning you haven't done a job that used these skills on AmbiMi. Don't worry – you can still get partial matches without verified skills.

How to Choose Your Skills

After downloading AmbiMi, choose your skills by following these steps:

1. Go to MiPrefs > MiSkills

2. Choose the fields and jobs most relevant to you or the ones that you want to get experience in. If this is your first time choosing skills, AmbiMi will prompt you to choose up to three fields. You can edit these at any time by clicking "Modify Suggestions."

3. Select the skills you have, or the ones that you want to learn. AmbiMi will recommend skills based on the fields that you chose. You can scroll through and select which ones are most relevant to you.

4. Search for additional skills if you don't see the ones you are looking for in our skills library.

5. Click save, and you're all set!

AmbiMi's Top Tips and Tricks

Now that you know how to add skills, you need to think about choosing the right skills. You can select up to 45 skills, so we recommend keeping them broad. Decide which skills are the best match for you and your career goals.

Don't worry too much about adding all your skills right away. You can edit or add more, whenever you want, through MiSKills. Additionally, you can get partial matches where you meet some but not all of the skills requirements. So, you'll still get a match even if you only meet two of the five skills.

Once you start finding jobs with AmbiMi, the skills you learn will update to your AmbiFile as verified skills. If you want specific skills but don't have the experience yet, add them to your profile anyway! Then, AmbiMi will show you job matches where you can learn that skill.

That's everything you need to know about AmbiMi's skills-based job matching.
